naka River Journeys will pick you up at Whare Kea Lodge and take you to the braided and ever-changing Matukituki River. Thrill in shallow water jet boating at its best. Be met by Aspiring Helicopters who will continue your journey with a scenic flight around Glaciers and up towards the Whare Kea Chalet nestled at 5700ft (1750m) high in the Southern Alps. After lunch your host will drive you through the Matukituki valley back to the Lodge.
Huka Lodge is well placed to offer adrenalin adventure within the spectacular central plateau region. With the Huka Jet and bungy jumping on the Waikato River, tandem skydiving, white and black water rafting, race car driving, quad biking, parasailing and kayaking on Lake Taupo the choice is both wide and varied.
Unique adventures from the lodge's helipad - Be whisked up into the mountains with a guide and hike along an amazing ridge or mountain bike down it; pause to enjoy a gourmet picnic while your helicopter returns to collect you.
Seakayaking is available on Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. This is a real seakayak adventure in a “wild land on a mythical scale”.
Take a jet boat up the beautiful Matukituki Valley through Lord of the Rings locations under Avalanche Glacier with wonderful views of Mt Aspiring with an optional helicopter flight around the glaciers. Or try the Siberia Experience day trip where you fly to a remote mountain valley and land on a grass airstrip in Mount Aspiring National Park and walk in the forest before returning by jet boat. All our guests love this trip.
Using your own pedal power is a fun and eco-friendly way to explore a wine region. Within just a few minutes of Greenhill, you can be 'On Yer Bike' in the world-renowned Ngatarawa Triangle grape growing region and the Gimblett Gravels appellation. The terrain is flat and scenic, with some cycling 'off-road' through vineyards and an olive grove.
