The 1858 limestone homestead, now the core of the lodge, introduces you to the style of pampering that earned the Harper’s Hideaway Report Grand Award in 1998. Whether you relax beside the heated swimming pool or in the spa studio, or turn your energies to tennis, kayaking, mountain biking or the seasonal farm activities of this 625 ha. sheep station, you can be assured of one thing – unfaltering personal attention.
Six lake view deluxe rooms, four mountain view junior suites, 2 river view cottage suites and the Grasmere suite, all king or twin beds.
Trout fishing in 8 nearby lakes and rivers; kayaking on Lake Grasmere; serious tramping or leisurely walks in the native beech forests of the nearby 100,000 ha Arthur’s Pass National Park; skiing on a choice of 5 nearby skifields and horseback riding.
Grasmere Lodge is on State Highway 73, 120 km (90 minutes) west of Christchurch by car, en route to the West Coast glaciers. By prior arrangement, the TranzAlpine Express train will stop at Cass for Grasmere guests.
