Adventures can be found anywhere, but the magnificent surroundings add an extra facet to those of New Zealand. Even on the most exciting whitewater rafting trip, there are moments for enjoying the scenery and appreciating the clean fresh air. Jetboating down our rivers, you don't even need to paddle, just hang on as your guide takes you perilously close to rocks and over shallows!

Take advantage of gentle morning breezes to experience the sights from a hot-air balloon, and if that doesn't appeal, try a tandem parachute. This is adventure with no strings attached!

Many lodges are near wilderness areas - guided trophy hunting is often available for a wide variety of animals including red deer, chamois or thar, or introduced birds which have become a pest, such as Canada geese, black swans and ducks. Feel free to take a camera instead of a gun, or get your eye in with clay or target shooting, offered at several lodges.
